Privacy Policy Overview
Urban Mapping (UMI’s) Privacy Policy covers the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information that may be collected by UMI anytime you interact with UMI or UMI’s products. This document outlines our information practices, including what type of information is gathered, how the information is used and for what purposes, to whom we disclose the information, and how we safeguard your personal information.
What information we collect and how we may use it
The only personal information collected is information you consciously provide us. When you interact with UMI for the purposes of technical support or sales, we may collect personal information relevant to the situation, such as your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, contact preferences, your credit card information and information about the UMI products you use and information relating to a support or service issue. Certain of the UMI Web Service products require us to respond to some of the following questions: “which neighborhood is this address located within,” “how far is this address from a subway station,” “which counties are located within a five mile radius of this address?” This is not an exhaustive list of questions, but it is representative. We collect no personal information about these addresses and have no way of associating an individual with this information. We do not currently utilize “cookies,” IP targeting or any other passive technical means of knowing about you.
When we disclose your information
UMI takes your privacy very seriously. UMI does not sell or rent your contact information to other marketers. To help us provide superior service, your personal information may be shared with legal entities within UMI who will take steps to safeguard it in accordance with UMI’s privacy policy.
At times we may be required by law or litigation to disclose your personal information. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that for national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary.
How we protect your personal information
UMI takes precautions — including administrative, technical, and physical measures — to safeguard your personal information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. The UMI databases use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption on all web pages where personal information is required.
International users
UMI abides by the safe harbor framework set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information collected from the European Union.
